Film is a powerful and fun way to express ideas, and it will be
your
primary means of communication in this course. In LCA!, you will
collaborate with your classmates to identify an important community
issue, conduct research and interviews to help you develop a position,
and make a film about the issue. Your film will be screened for
community audiences in an attempt to promote discussion and persuade
your audience to agree with your position. Lights, Camera...Activism!
will challenge all your abilities and teach you new skills in a
different way than most of your other classes. While LCA! is a technology
course, you’ll find that making an effective film requires
many skills that don’t fall into the “technology”
box. Take this class to find the answer to a century-old question:
“How can films change the way we think?”
Prerequisite: This course is open to students
